Testing Technician (R&D)
The Testing Technician provides hands-on technical and testing support throughout all phases of the product lifecycle. This is a versatile position that blends a variety of engineering disciplines, knowledge, and experiences. This position reports to the Research and Development Manager.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
The essential duties and responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:
· Lead hands-on, practical product evaluations by proposing processes, building test apparatuses, following test procedures, documenting findings, and making recommendations
· Perform routine testing (such as energy efficiency and corrosion) in addition to one-off testing for new projects
· Report on and work to resolve any issues that arise during testing
· Verify that tests comply with specifications, codes, standards, and requirements, and are not deviating from predetermined criteria throughout the testing process
· Ensure tests meet all intended goals, and are completed on time, on budget, and within scope
· Provide test data in an accurate, thorough, and timely manner
· Help with the creation of test plans, procedures, documents, reports, and forms that support the testing process and define best practices
· Assist with the organization, calibration, scheduling, and maintenance of all testing and R&D Lab equipment
· Champion the 5S cleanliness and organizational initiatives for the R&D Lab
· Support the logging process and upkeep for First Articles and Samples
· Assist with R&D and Design Engineering projects as needed, and collaborate with other technicians, engineers, and production personnel to support a wide variety of other projects and business needs
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:
· Associate or Bachelor's Degree in an Engineering or Technical Discipline (equivalent work experience will also be considered in lieu of degree)
· Ability and desire to primarily work hands-on in the R&D Lab/factory
· Demonstrated mechanical aptitude, logical reasoning, and understanding of units of measure
· Proven ability to use common shop tools, measuring devices, test equipment, and lab tools, such as CNCs, screw guns, saws, drills, routers, calipers, tape measures, gauges, meters, sensors, etc.
· Practical understanding and application of physical connectivity methods, structural mechanics, electrical connections, fluid dynamics, and heat transfer
· Willingness to work overtime and/or travel when necessary to complete a project
· Effective written and oral communication skills, with the ability to clearly explain ideas both visually and verbally
· Creative and inventive problem solver
· Strong follow through and willingness to take responsibility for tasks through to completion
· Positive attitude, with a desire to learn and improve every day
· Thrives in a fast-paced, rapidly changing, collaborative, team-focused environment
· Microsoft suite of products (Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, and especially Excel)
· Familiarity with AutoCAD, SolidWorks, PDM software, and 3D scanning is a plus
· Understanding and application of electrical engineering equipment and principles is a plus

SCHEDULE:
Mon-Thurs 7:00am-5:00pm with an hour unpaid lunch & Friday 8:00am-12:00pm
COMPENSATION:
Our starting rate for a Testing Technician with minimum skill sets range from $60,000-$65,000. In situations where the candidate comes in with skills that exceed what we are looking for, they have the opportunity to earn significantly more once those skills are confirmed.
