General Manager - Retail Sales (Texas)

Under the direction of the Executive Vice President, the General Manager oversees all aspects of retail showroom operations, sales performance, and customer experience within their assigned state. This role ensures alignment with company goals, drives sales growth, supports staff development, and maintains company standards and assets.

The essential duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

Leadership & Sales:

  • Oversee day-to-day operations of the retail showroom(s) within the assigned state.
  • Oversee contracted show coordinators and event staff, ensuring excellence in event planning, execution and customer experience.
  • Partner with Controller to ensure operational consistency and compliance in all areas such as sales processing, documentation, delivery scheduling and staffing.
  • Team management including maintaining appropriate staffing levels, working with Employment & Training to fill positions as needed as well as handling all conflict resolution and discipline matters in a timely manner.
  • Lead, train, and develop retail staff to deliver exceptional customer service and achieve sales goals.
  • Set sales goals for your market then track & report on the progress.
  • Drive product sales and ensure timely, accurate delivery and installation to customers.
  • Develop and execute local sales and marketing strategies tailored to the market.

Operations & Compliance:

  • Collaborate closely with the Controller to ensure operational consistency across all retail locations.
  • Maintain accurate handling of paperwork, contracts, and sales documentation.
  • Coordinate delivery schedules and logistics to ensure efficient operations.
  • Communicate regularly with the Controller regarding hiring and management of support personnel, ensuring staffing aligns with company standards and budget.
  • Ensure all financial transactions, deposits, and reporting are handled accurately and in compliance with company procedures.
  • Manage inventory, including finished goods and related supplies.
  • Maintain facilities, vehicles, and company assets to meet safety and appearance standards.
  • Ensure company processes, procedures and guidelines are followed by all employees.

Customer Experience:

  • Ensure that all retail locations and events deliver an exceptional customer experience consistent with the company’s values and brand.
  • Maintain a strong understanding of industry trends, products, and competitor activity to stay ahead of the market.
  • Resolve escalated customer concerns quickly and professionally.
  • Manage online showroom reviews and reputation.
  • Support Retail Coordinators and staff in providing a seamless and positive customer experience.

Collaboration & Administration:

  • Provide regular updates, reports, and feedback to the Executive VP and CFO.
  • Work cross-functionally with Accounting, Operations, Marketing, and HR as needed.
  • Perform additional responsibilities as assigned.

Requirements:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required; additional business or management coursework preferred.
  • Previous experience in retail sales, customer service, or account management required.
  • Supervisory or management experience strongly preferred.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead teams, manage multiple priorities, and achieve results.
  • Strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications, especially Excel, Outlook, Teams, and SharePoint.
  • Willingness to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends during sales events.
  • Experience coordinating or managing trade shows/expos helpful.
